NVIDIA says fine-tuned Nemotron models reached gold-medal level at IOI and IMO 2026

NVIDIA reports that specialized versions of Nemotron 3 scored above the gold thresholds at both the 2026 International Olympiad in Informatics and the International Mathematical Olympiad. The runs were unofficial.

In an October 7 Hugging Face post, NVIDIA researchers described fine-tuning Nemotron 3 models with supervised fine-tuning, reinforcement learning and feedback-driven inference for two competitions.

NVIDIA reports a score of 535.4 out of 600 on IOI 2026 problems, above the 361.12 gold threshold and the top human score of 498.27, from a live run under contestant-like constraints. For IMO 2026 it reports 30 out of 42, above the gold threshold of 29.

The company notes the IOI result was an unofficial, unsupervised benchmark and not part of the official competition. It says models, data and recipes are available on Hugging Face.
