OpenAI has begun the broad commercial rollout of GPT-5.6, offered in three compute tiers named Luna, Terra and Sol, together with a new execution environment called ChatGPT Work, AI.cm reported on October 11.
According to the report, the release follows weeks of staggered access and a review of the model's capabilities by the U.S. Department of Commerce before it was cleared for wide deployment.
ChatGPT Work is designed as an asynchronous task runner: users hand it objectives such as compiling datasets, generating test suites across large code repositories or running multi-step document audits, and the agent works on them in the background, the report said.
