Sierra and Meta develop Personal Agent Protocol, an open standard for AI agents acting with businesses
The Personal Agent Protocol would let consumers authorize personal AI agents over OAuth while businesses control what those agents may do. Shopify, Stripe and Walmart are among the partners; a v0.1 spec is due later in October.

Sierra and Meta are developing the Personal Agent Protocol, an open standard for how personal AI agents sign in to and act with businesses on a customer's behalf, Conversational AI News reported on October 11.
Under the design, consumers authorize their agents over OAuth, while businesses control which actions those agents are allowed to take, according to the report.
Sierra announced the effort on October 6 with industry partners Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe and Walmart. The v0.1 specification is due later in October, and technical documentation is posted at personalagentprotocol.org, the report said.
